Road to Somewhere Blog Tour & GIVEAWAY

Lucky, lucky me! I get the pleasure of sharing my review and favorite quotes from ROAD TO SOMEWHERE by fellow Inklings authors Kelley Lynn and Jenny S. Morris!

About the book:

New! From Bloomsbury Spark, a sunny heartwarming story of discovery and sisterhood.

A road trip. A singing competition. And super-hot cowboys.

What could be better?

For Charlie, a post-high school road trip isn't just a vacation, it's life changing. While her parents think she's helping a friend move, a chance at fame is the real reason to grab her best friends and drive to L.A. But when her super annoying, uber-responsible, younger sister, Lucy, has to tag along, it isn't quite the summer of fun she imagined.

Add in a detour to her grandparents' ranch in Texas, and between mucking the stalls, down-home cookin’, and drool worthy ranch hands, this could just turn into the best, and most complicated, summer of their lives.

My Review:

I loved this story! It has so much to offer - what a fun ride (pun intended)!

Kelley and Jenny wrote rich, lovely, unique characters who grab you from the get go and keep you wanting to stay close so you don't miss what happens next on their journeys. Charlie and Lucy have such different personalities - a total yin yang thing going, but they also compliment one another beautifully.

The settings are wonderfully done. Whether they are in Illinois, California, or Texas the reader feels the difference tangibly. I have to say, Texas was my favorite and being a Texas girl, I was transported back to many a sweltering Texas summer. And, as tumultuous as my relationship with my home state is, it actually left me longing for sweet tea, 95 degree mornings, and dusty pick up trucks (I'm pretty sure a cowboy was just struck by lightening or something).

Add to all of that, the singing competition, relationship ups and downs, sisterly love/hate, friendships, finding one's passion, and, oh yeah, cowboys... and, well, it's one wonderful story!

Download it NOW!

I'm HOPING there's a sequel in the works...

Favorite quotes: So many to choose from and I didn't want to give anything away, but these are some of my faves...

"Horseshit." Charlie

"Nope, I'm a man. Can't ya tell? I'm riding this here thingamabob with you." Drew

"I'm not sneaky. You're predictable." Drew

"I watch the stars and moon swim in the ocean." Lucy

Music plays a large role in her writing process as well as the characters and plot lines within her stories.

Jenny S. Morris is a YA author who loves all things geek, may have a Kdrama addiction, and prefers the rainy NW to any place she's ever lived. Road to Somewhere is her debut novel.
