countdown to THE CASTAWAYS: meet olive

I Googled it. 73 days until 2017. The year my debut novel is presented to the world. I'm equal parts this:

And this:

In the meantime, I've decided to start a 'countdown to my big day' series to help introduce my book and characters and to keep my wandering mind busy between edits and new projects. So, here we go. Post #1.

Meet Olive.

It's Olive's journey we'll be on, an adventure that will find her in unexpected places with unexpected people, she's spectacularly ill-equipped to deal with. But she does. And that's the beauty about Olive... she's far more adaptable than anyone ever thought. Mostly her.

Olive's colors.

Olive is sixteen. She prefers the background to the spotlight. She pines for her childhood home in the Pacific Northwest, but is reluctantly... trying... (not really) to love her new small-town, southern surroundings. Pretty hard when you're being bullied. But. She has a loving family. And a badass best friend who always has her back. Like her personality, Olive's color pallet is grays and blues and doodles and berries with pops of color and patterns.

Olive's song.

If Olive were a song she'd be a sort of juxtaposition of sad and bubbly. Ukulele with poetic lyrics.

More to come. Stay tuned!
