Welp. I'm a lucky, lucky writer because I struck GOLD!
I recently signed with Victoria Marini of the Irene Goodman Literary Agency (IGLA)! While I've been very fortunate in writing contests as of late (I made the finals in both Pitch Slam and Pitch to Publication! O.o), Victoria got a hold of my story via the not-near-as-shmexy, good ol' slush pile and I couldn't be MORE thrilled!
The short story:
Not too long after Victoria requested the full of my MG fantasy, I found out I'd been chosen for Pitch to Publication (#P2P16), which meant I'd be working with an editor to make my story shine. I let Victoria (and other agents who had the full or partial) know and she asked me to send it when the revisions were complete. About five weeks later, I sent the completed, newly edited story her way.
Close to a week later she asked to speak on the phone and offered me representation. I internally squee'd (a lot) then asked her all of the questions and she had ALL of the answers. She is lovely and knowledgeable and experienced and everything I was searching for in an agent.
Of course, because my manuscript was out with other agents, I immediately notified them of my offer and gave the decided on deadline of one week. Then I had to do the WAITING... Which, honestly, was a good thing...reflection, processing, meditation, all of that...
Within that week I received ANOTHER offer. Now, I've had this happen to friends and always both envied and felt for them. And, I'm telling you, it was overwhelming and fantastic and stressful to say the least.
BUT. In the end, I knew in my heart who the perfect choice for me was.💖
Here's to a new year and new beginnings and a whole lot of publishing awesome!!!
Now. Time to get to work!
